The 2nd Album release from Muse, Origin Of Symmetry explores a much more spacey sound and is a reasonable change from the debut album, Showbiz.

Soft, yet slightly eerie piano meets your ears in the first track, New Born, and builds up into a ground shaking guitar riff. A very unsuspecting melodic verse comes and merges into the fast, powerful chorus. A simple yet perfect solo brings you nearer to the end of the song as you are encouraged to listen further.

Track 2, Bliss starts out with a zaney keyboard riff to bring in bass, guitar and drums all at once, not to lose your attention from the excellence of the first song. When Matt Bellamy's now quieter voice soothes the verse, you relax a little. Things are slightly calmer, only to be not so much sped up, but have a more sinister mood kick in as Space Dementia is the next song on the album.

Again, as in the first track, piano introduces the song, starting out slow but then shocking you with a low, loud and fast piano riff, with some added tempo from drums. The verse is sinister, with a hint of depression, bringing you in deeper with the song. After the second playing of the verse pattern, the song is brought down slower, and the spacey feel is made more apparent. Leading into a much more dark, slow ending.

The album is very much concentrated on the constant changing in the tempo of songs, and the contrast of dark/light moods. The middle song of the album, Citizen Erased is a personal favourite, with a striking guitar riff and punchy drum beat. This song is a perfect example of the tempo change and dark/light mood change, as is Plug In Baby.

Micro Cuts and Screenager are the songs where things started to go astray in my opinion, they didn't fit well with the rest of album and are the flaws on this album. Nevertheless, this album is still a great cd, encasing some of the greatest Muse songs.
